Wheel Speed Sensor: Description and Operation
The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) wheel sensors electrically sense each tooth of the anti-lock sensor indicator as it passes through the sensor's electrical field. This data is sent to the ABS control module which then determines wheel rotational speed. ABS wheel sensors are adjustable. The front ABS sensor is bolted to the front wheel knuckle. The front ABS sensor indicator toothed ring is part of the outboard CV joint. The rear ABS sensor is bolted to the rear wheel spindle. The rear ABS sensor indicator toothed ring is pressed onto the rear hub.
