Impact Sensor: Service and Repair
REMOVALWARNING: THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT NECESSARY FOR SYSTEM DEPLOYMENT IS POWERED DIRECTLY FROM THE BATTERY. TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY, THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE MUST BE DISCONNECTED PRIOR TO SERVICING OR REPLACING ANY SYSTEM COMPONENTS.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect positive battery cable and wait one minute for back-up power supply energy to be depleted.
3. Remove two screws and radiator grille from radiator grille opening panel reinforcement.
4. Remove two screws and RH and LH parking lamps.
5. Remove 12 screws from radiator grille opening panel reinforcement.
6. Disconnect RH or LH primary crash sensor electrical connector.
7. Remove three retaining screws and RH or LH primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket from radiator support.
INSTALLATION
1. Position RH or LH primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket to radiator support and secure with three retaining screws. Tighten screws to 9-13 Nm (7-10 lb-ft).
2. Connect RH or LH primary crash sensor electrical connector.
3. Position radiator grille opening panel reinforcement and secure with 12 screws. Tighten screws to 5-7 Nm (44-62 lb-in).
4. Install RH and LH parking lamps and secure with two screws. Tighten screws to 5-7 Nm (44-62 lb-in).
5. Install radiator grille and secure with two screws. Tighten screws to 5-7 Nm (44-62 lb-in).
6. Reconnect battery positive cable.
7. Reconnect battery ground cable.
8. Prove out air bag system.
