Emissions Recall 95E56 - Powertrain Control Module Replacement - Certain 1995-Model California, Federal and Canadian Contour and Mystique Cars

Affected Vehicles
Approximately 13,200 1995-Model California, Federal and Canadian Contour and Mystique cars equipped with 2.5L engines having engine calibration codes 5-12T-R05, (50 States automatic transmission), 5-11T-R05, (California manual transmission), and 5-11B-R05, (50 States manual transmission) built from February 15, through March 30, 1995 at the Kansas City Assembly Plant and through March 24, 1995 at the Cuautitlan Assembly Plant.
Reason for Recall
New vehicle testing conducted by Ford and the California Air Resources Board (CARB) indicate that the affected cars may exceed applicable oxides of nitrogen standards.
Service Action
Powertrain control modules (PCM) will be replaced at no charge to owners of the affected cars.
Preprinted Authorized Modifications Labels
Preprinted Authorized Modifications labels must be affixed to cars which are serviced in accordance with this bulletin. Preprinted labels are not packaged with the powertrain control modules. Instead, a supply of preprinted labels is included with this package. Additional labels may be ordered by calling the recall assistance toll-free telephone number. All cars serviced under this recall must receive an Authorized Modifications label.
