TRANSAXLE - CD4E - TURBINE SHAFT SPEED (TSS) SENSOR - MOUNTING SURFACE ON PUMP BODIES INCORRECT

FORD:
1995 CONTOUR, PROBE

LINCOLN-MERCURY:
1995 MYSTIQUE

ISSUE:
Some 1995 CD4E transaxles built from December 1994 through February 1995 (transaxle numbers 43350467 to 43370105 and 43410230 to 43420326) may have been assembled with incorrect TSS Sensor mounting surfaces on the pump bodies. The TSS Sensor was modified to allow the sensor to seat properly on the pump body.

ACTION:
If the TSS Sensor requires service, replace the pump assembly to prevent a clearance concern between the pump body and the Turbine Shaft Speed (TSS) Sensor. The affected parts can be identified by a yellow dot on the TSS Sensor and an orange dot on the pump body. Refer to Figures 1 and 2.

CAUTION:
BECAUSE THE PUMP BODY AFFECTS END CLEARANCE, THE TRANSAXLE MUST BE COMPLETELY DISASSEMBLED FOR PUMP ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT.
