Ignition System: Tools and Equipment

EQUIPMENT (REQUIRED)

Obtain the following test equipment or an equivalent:

EI Diagnostic Harness:

- Electronic Ignition (EI) (High Data Rate) Ignition Diagnostic Harness (Rotunda 007-00059) or equivalent (pictured).

- Spark Tester, Neon bulb type (OTC D89P-6666-A, 105-00050, 105-00051, 105-00052, 105-00053, or Scan Tool 007-00500) or equivalent.

- Volt-Ohmmeter (Rotunda 007-00001).

- Remote starter switch.

- EEC Breakout Box (Rotunda T83L-50-EEC).

- Spark Tester, Gap type (Special Service Tool D81P-6666-A) or equivalent. A spark plug with a broken side electrode is not sufficient to check for spark and may lead to incorrect results.

- Inductive Timing Light (Rotunda 059-00014), EI compatible.

- Tachometer Adapter (Rotunda 007-00061), EI compatible.

NOTE: The required tachometer adapter is compatible with all Ford EI vehicles and is also compatible with the repetitive spark mode. A standard tachometer may not be compatible with this vehicle.

EQUIPMENT (RECOMMENDED)

- Ignition Intermittent Analyzer (Rotunda 007-00075) or equivalent.
