Affected Vehicles
1995 Model Ford Contour and Mercury Mystique Passenger cars shipped from Job # 1 through 10/12/94 except units built after 10/5/94.

Reasons For Recall
The fuel filler pipe opening reinforcement (an integral part of the fuel tank assembly) may leak fuel. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source could potentially result in a fire.

To avoid this risk, the fuel tank is to be inspected and, if necessary, replaced.

Rental Cars
Owners are to be provided a free loaner or rental vehicle (except for cost of fuel) until inspection is completed or, if necessary, a replacement fuel tank can be installed.

NOTE:
Free loaners/rental cars are NOT to be used to facilitate sales completions on affected dealer stock units.
