DP3 - Check VSS Signal Harness For Shorts to Power or Ground

- Key "OFF".

- Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) disconnected.

- Breakout box installed, Powertrain Control Module (PCM) disconnected.

- Measure resistance between test pin 3 and test pins 6, 37 and 40 at the breakout box.

- Is each resistance greater than 500 ohms?

Yes -- Reconnect the PCM. Go to DP4. DP4 - Check Vehicle Speed Sensor Resistance

No -- Service short circuit. Remove breakout box. Reconnect all components. Repeat test step DP1 drive cycle to verify elimination of Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) or the drive complaint. DP1 - Complete VSS Drive Cycle
