Front Crankshaft Seal: Service and Repair
1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove righthand front wheel and tire assembly.2. Remove righthand splash shield from fender apron for access to crankshaft pulley.
3. Remove accessory drive belt.
4. Remove crankshaft pulley bolt and washer from crankshaft, then, using crankshaft damper remover T58P-6316-D, or equivalent, remove crankshaft pulley from crankshaft.
5. Using seal remover T92C-6700-CH, or equivalent, remove crankshaft front seal from front cover.
6. Reverse procedure to install, noting following:
a. Lubricate seal sealing surfaces with suitable engine assembly lubricant, then, using crankshaft seal replacer T88T-6701-A and crankshaft damper replacer T74P-7316-B, or equivalents, install crankshaft front seal into front cover.
b. Clean crankshaft pulley sealing surfaces with suitable metal cleaner to remove all residues which could interfere with sealer's ability to adhere.
c. Apply black silicone rubber F4AZ-19562-B, or equivalent, to front of crankshaft on inside diameter surface of pulley at keyway.
d. Install crankshaft pulley using crankshaft damper replacer T74P-6316-B, or equivalent, and washer from bolt.
e. Torque crankshaft pulley bolt to 89 ft lb, then loosen bolt a minimum of one full turn. Next, torque bolt to 35-39 ft lb, then rotate bolt an additional 85-95°.
