Disassembly and Assembly






DISASSEMBLY
1. Remove caliper from car, then drain fluid from caliper.





2. Using rear caliper piston adjuster T87P-2588-A, or equivalent, rotate caliper piston counterclockwise to remove piston and adjuster from caliper and adjuster spindle.








3. Remove and discard caliper piston dust seal and piston seal.
4. Remove bleeder screw, then locating pin, pin dust seals and bushings.
5. Cut tie-wrap, then remove cover and dust seals from parking brake actuator.
6. Mount caliper in a suitable vise with soft jaws, positioned to access parking brake actuator.
7. Compress actuator spring, then remove parking brake actuator arm and cam.
8. Remove cup washer and adjuster springs from adjuster spindle, note position of components for later assembly.
9. Remove adjuster spindle and seal from caliper, then remove seal from spindle.

CLEANING & INSPECTION
1. Clean all metal components with isopropyl alcohol.
2. Use compressed air to clean out passages and grooves.
3. Inspect caliper bore for damage and excessive wear.
4. Inspect parking brake and adjuster components for damage and excessive wear.
5. Inspect caliper piston for pitting, scoring or worn plating and replace as necessary.

ASSEMBLY
1. Position caliper housing in a suitable vice with soft jaws.
2. Install a new seal to adjuster spindle, then install spindle into caliper.
3. Install adjuster springs and cup washer onto spindle in order of disassembly.
4. Compress cup washer and spring, then install parking brake actuator cam and arm.
5. Install parking brake actuator dust boot and cover, and secure them with a suitable tie-wrap.
6. Replace any removed locating pin, bushings and seals, then lubricate with a suitable brake grease.
7. Install bleeder screw.
8. Install new caliper piston seal into groove, lubricate with clean brake fluid.
9. Install new piston dust seal onto piston, then pack seal with a suitable disc brake slide grease. Lubricate piston surfaces with clean brake fluid.
10. Using rear caliper piston adjuster T87P-2588-A, or equivalent, rotate caliper piston clockwise to install piston into caliper and onto adjuster spindle.
11. Seat piston dust seal into caliper.
12. Install caliper into vehicle.
