Electronics
ELECTRONICSShift timing, shift feel (line pressure), converter clutch, and the coast clutch are electronically controlled in the CD4E.
The CD4E has five electronically controlled solenoids. They are:
^ EPC (Electronic Pressure Control) Solenoid
^ TCC (Torque Converter Clutch) Solenoid
^ SS1 (Shift) Solenoid
^ SS2 (Shift) Solenoid
^ 3-2T/CCS (3-2 Timing/Coast Clutch) Solenoid
The 3-2T/CCS is a unique solenoid, in that it has two functions. It controls the coast clutch application and release, as well as the timing for the release of the direct clutch and application of the band during a 3-2 shift.
The PCM controls these solenoids based on information from the engine sensors, the transaxle sensors and driver demand.
The transaxle sensors are:
^ TFT (Transmission Fluid Temperature) Sensor
^ MLP (Manual Lever Position) Sensor
^ TSS (Turbine Shaft Speed) Sensor
^ VSS (Vehicle Speed) Sensor
