ISSUE:
On some vehicles the speedometer may become inoperative and/or the vehicle may encounter harsh shifts. This may be due to the speedometer driven gear becoming damaged because of insufficient clearance between the speedometer driven gear and the retainer.

ACTION:
When replacing the vehicle's speedometer driven gear, also replace the vehicle speed sensor and the speedometer driven gear retainer. Refer to the appropriate Service Manual for service details.
