FORD:
1995 CONTOUR

LINCOLN-MERCURY:
1995 MYSTIQUE

ISSUE:
Engine oil may leak in the area of the front timing case cover on some vehicles. The leak is coming from the camshaft seal. This is due to a sealing surface finish condition. The surface has leads (lines like a thread) that transfer oil out of the seals.

ACTION:
Determine source of engine oil leak using Rotunda Oil Dye (112-R0015, or equivalent) and Rotunda Black Light (164-R0753, or equivalent). Call the Chihuahua Engine Plant at 1-800-252-0951, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM Eastern Time, Monday through Friday (excluding Ford-observed holidays) and provide the information requested by the plant personnel. Plant personnel will make the final decision on the type of repair procedure to be used and provide information needed for the repair.
