Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair
Crankshaft Position Sensor:
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Raise vehicle and support with jackstands.
3. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring connector from Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor.
4. Remove CKP sensor shield.
5. Remove CKP sensor retaining bolts and sensor.
INSTALLATION
1. Position CKP sensor on engine front cover.
2. Install CKP sensor retaining bolts. Tighten to 4.5-7.0 Nm (40-61 in lb).
3. Install CKP sensor shield. Tighten to 2-4 Nm (18-35 in lb).
4. Route CKP sensor wiring harness and connect engine control sensor wiring connector.
5. Lower vehicle.
6. Connect battery ground cable.
NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the adaptive strategy.
