Preliminary Checkout, Equipment, and Notes
CHECKOUT1. Visually inspect the engine compartment to ensure all vacuum hoses and spark plug wires are properly and securely connected.
2. Examine all wiring harness and connectors for damaged, insulation, damaged pins, and loose or broken conditions. Check sensor shield connector.
3. Be certain the battery is fully charged.
4. All accessories should be off during diagnosis.
EQUIPMENT (REQUIRED)
1. Volt-Ohmmeter (Rotunda 007-00001).
2. Ignition Intermittent Analyzer (Rotunda 007-00075).
NOTES
1. When making measurements on a wiring harness, both a visual inspection and a continuity test should be performed. Inspect the connector pins for damage (corrosion, bent or spread pins, etc.) when directed to remove a connector.
2. When making voltage checks, a GROUND or LOW reading means any value within a range of 0.0 to 1.0 volt. Also VPWR or COIL PWR or HIGH readings mean any value that falls within a range of B+ to 2 volts less than B+.
3. When making resistance checks, make sure the ignition is in the KEY OFF position.
4. The RESET button must be pressed to clear a captured fault.
5. Never use the DIST without the proper Program Cartridge properly installed.
