DL109 - Check For Obstructed EGR Passage
- Key "OFF".- On some engines (high mileage in particular), it is possible for the intake manifold EGR port to get intermittently obstructed by sludge.
- Inspect the EGR port in the intake manifold if sludging is suspect (in some cases, it may require the removal of the intake manifold).
- Is there excessive sludging in the intake manifold?
Yes -- Clean and service as necessary. Reconnect all components. Clear continuous memory.
Rerun quick test. Quick Test Appendix (Detailed Testing Instructions)
No -- Unable to duplicate and/or identify fault at this time. In cold climates, icing in the EGR system may occur. The EGR function returns to normal when the engine warms up .
For further diagnosis using the EEC-IV monitor box or Scan Tool, refer to Intermittent Diagnosis.
All others, clear continuous memory.
