REMOVAL

Spark Plug Wire Remover:

1. When removing ignition wires from spark plugs, use Spark Plug Wire Remover T74P-6666-A. Grasp and twist the spark plug boot back and forth on the spark plug insulator to free the ignition wire spark plug boot. Use the special tool or equivalent to pull the boot from the spark plug.

CAUTION: Do not pull on ignition wire directly, the wire may separate from the connector inside the boot.

Removing Ignition Wires At Coil Pack:

2. When removing ignition wires from the ignition coil, squeeze the locking tabs of the ignition coil wire retainer and remove using a twisting and pulling motion. Do not pull on the ignition wire.

CAUTION: Do not pull on ignition wire directly, the wire may separate from the connector inside the boot.

INSTALLATION
1. Whenever an ignition wire is removed for any reason from a spark plug or ignition coil, or a new ignition wire is installed, coat the entire interior surface of the boot with Silicone Dielectric D7AZ-19A331-A (Motorcraft WA-10) or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M1C171-A with a small clean tool prior to installation

Ignition Wire Installation:

2. Install each ignition wire on the proper ignition coil terminal as shown in the Ignition Wire Installation illustration. The engine cylinder numbers are identified on the ignition coil. Ensure that the ignition coil wire boots are fully seated and that both ignition coil boot retainer locking tabs are engaged.

CAUTION: Proper installation of ignition wires is critical to vehicle operation. If any ignition wire is not properly installed on spark plug or ignition coil, both spark plugs connected to that ignition coil may not operate under load.

3. Remove ignition wire separators from ignition wire set and install ignition wire separators in same relative position on the new ignition wire set. Install ignition wires and ignition wire separators on the engine.
4. Connect ignition wires to proper spark plugs.
