TE1 - Sensor Output Outside Test Range
Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) 26/636 indicate the output of the Transmission Fluid Temperature (TFT) sensor was out of Self-Test range. The sensor output shows a failure occurred at either the low or high end of the acceptable range. The correct range of measurement is from 0.76 to 4.69 volts.
Possible causes:
- Fluid levels not to specification.
- Transmission fluid not at operating temperature.
- Sensor resistance out of limits.
- Damaged Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
- Drive vehicle through normal city traffic to bring transmission oil temperature to at least 10°C (50°F).
- Rerun quick test. Quick Test Appendix (Detailed Testing Instructions)
- Is DTC 26 or 636 present?
Yes -- Go to TE2. TE2 - Check For VREF At Throttle Position Sensor
No -- TFT sensor OK. Service other DTCs as necessary. Manufacturer Code Charts
