TD - Testing Notes

NOTE: You should enter this Pinpoint Test only when you been directed here from Diagnostic Routines.

DESCRIPTION
The transmission range switch inputs are used by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to determine the position of the gear shift selector.

REMEMBER:
This Pinpoint Test is intended to diagnose the Transmission Range sensor electrical system only. To prevent the replacement of good components, be aware that the following non-Electronic Engine Controls (EEC) areas may be at fault:

- Electrical
- Battery integrity, ignition switch, starter/relay, harness
- Add-on devices (back-up alarm)

- Transmission
- Shift linkage, Internal components

This Pinpoint Test is intended to diagnose only the following:

- Harness Circuits: SIG RTN, TR, TRR, TRL, TRD and TROD

- Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
