Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Service and Repair
Idle Air Control Valve:
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable (14301)
2. Disconnect the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve electrical connector.
3. Remove the two IAC valve bolts.
4. Remove the IAC valve and gasket.
INSTALLATION
CAUTION: If scraping is necessary, use care not to damage the IAC valve or the throttle body gasket surfaces or drop the gasket material into the throttle body (9E926).
1. Be sure the throttle body and the IAC valve gasket surfaces are clean.
2. Install a new gasket on the throttle body and mount the IAC valve, securing it with two IAC valve bolts. Tighten the IAC valve bolts to 8-11 Nm (71-97 in lb).
3. Connect the electrical connector to the IAC valve.
4. Connect the battery ground cable.
NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the adaptive strategy.
