Front Crankshaft Seal: Service and Repair



Crankshaft Front Oil Seal


Special Service Tool(s) Required

Oil Pump Seal Replacer T81P-6700-A
Seal Remover T92C-6700-CH


Removal

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable (14801).
2. Remove the drive belt (8620).
3. Raise and support the vehicle.
4. Remove the RH front fender splash shield (16102).
5. Remove the transmission housing cover (7986).






6. Use a suitable tool to hold the flywheel (6375).
7. Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt (6A340) and crankshaft pulley retaining washer (6378).






8. Remove the crankshaft pulley (6312).
9. Remove the engine front cover (6019).
10. Remove the timing chain/belt (6268).
11. Remove the crankshaft sprocket (6306) and timing chain guide (6K297).
12. Use Seal Remover T92C-6700-CH to remove the crankshaft front seal (6700) from the oil pump (6600).






Installation

1. Use Oil Pump Seal Replacer T81P-6700-A to install a new crankshaft front seal.
2. Install the timing chain guide and crankshaft sprocket.
3. Install the timing chain/belt.
4. Install the engine front cover. Tighten engine front cover nuts to 5-7 N.m (3-5 lb-ft).
5. Position the crankshaft pulley on the crankshaft (6303).
6. Install the crankshaft pulley retaining washer and the crankshaft pulley bolt and tighten it to 110-130 N.m (81-96 lb-ft).
7. Install the RH front fender splash shield.
8. Remove the flywheel holding tool and install the transmission housing cover.
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Install the drive belt.
11. Connect the battery ground cable.
