Oil Pump: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.2. Remove accessory drive belt and tensioner.
3. Support engine with a suitable floor jack.
4. Remove right engine mount dampener.
5. Remove right engine mount bolts from mount bracket.
6. Loosen mount through bolt and roll engine mount aside.
7. Remove timing belt.
8. Raise and support vehicle.
9. Remove right side splash shield.
10. Remove catalytic converter inlet pipe.
11. Drain engine oil and remove oil pan.
12. Remove crankshaft sprocket and timing belt guide.
13. Disconnect crank angle sensor.
14. Remove six oil pump to engine bolts.
15. Remove oil pump assembly from engine.
16. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Position pump drive gear to allow pump to pilot over crankshaft and seat firmly on cylinder block.
b. When oil pump bolts are tighten, gasket must not be below cylinder block sealing surface.
c. Tighten oil pump-to-block bolts to 8-12 ft lb. Tighten oil pickup tube to 7-9 ft lb.
