Inspection and Verification (Start Here)

1. Verify customer concern by operating the passive restraint system.
2. Visually inspect the components of the system.

Mechanical Electrical
Passive restraint carrier Blown fuse(s):
binding in front seat shoulder - 15 A METER
strap track - 30 A BELT
Front seat center retractor Vehicle electrical system
binding operating normally
Loose or corroded connections
Inertia fuel shutoff switch
activated

3. If the passive restraint carrier will not return to the front body pillar, verify that the inertia fuel shutoff switch has not been activated.
4. Check the wiring harness and connectors for signs of obvious damage.
5. If the problem is not visually evident, determine the symptom observed and proceed to the symptom chart.
