Rollover Valve: Description and Operation
Fuel Tank:
PURPOSE
This is a dual purpose valve that releases excessive fuel tank pressure to the atmosphere and prevents vapors or liquid fuel from escaping from the evaporator hose in event of a rollover accident. The valve is located behind the trim panel inside the vehicle, on the left side rear, near the fuel filler neck.
OPERATION
When upright, the valve operates to allow tank pressure release at approximately 1.0 psi (7.0 kPa). When the vehicle is turned upside down, the valve closes to prevent the escape of vapor or liquid fuel.
