Line Pressure Test

LINE PRESSURE TEST

NOTE: Line pressure is tested at idle, minimum Throttle Valve (TV), and wide open throttle position, full TV.

Line Pressure Port Location:

1. Connect 300 psi gauge to line pressure port on case.
2. Run engine until hot.

NOTE: Throttle must be off fast idle cam before idle pressure can be read.

3. Ensure TV linkage is properly adjusted.

Line Pressure Specifications Chart:

4. Apply service and parking brakes firmly and shift through all ranges. Note line pressure and compare to Line Pressure Specifications Chart. Wide open throttle readings are made at full stall.

CAUTION: Engine should be allowed to run at fast idle between tests to cool fluid. To avoid operating at stall, have helper manually force TV linkage to kickdown position to simulate wide open throttle.

Control Pressure Diagnosis Chart:

5. Refer to the Control Pressure Diagnosis Chart to analyze results.
