Safing Sensor: Service and Repair
Removal
WARNING: THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT NECESSARY FOR SYSTEM DEPLOYMENT IS POWERED DIRECTLY FROM THE BATTERY. TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY, THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE MUST BE DISCONNECTED PRIOR TO SERVICING OR REPLACING ANY SYSTEM COMPONENTS.
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect positive battery cable.
3. Remove two nuts (in engine compartment) retaining rear sensor to dash panel.
4. Remove rear sensor from inside dash panel.
5. Disconnect the rear sensor wiring connector from wiring assembly connector and remove sensor.
Installation
1. Connect rear sensor wiring connector to wiring assembly connector.
2. Position sensor to inside of dash panel. Insert sensor studs through dash panel.
3. Secure sensor with two retaining nuts. Tighten to 3.5-5.0 Nm (31-44 lb-in).
4. Connect positive battery cable.
5. Connect negative battery cable.
6. Verify air bag indicator.
