Passive Restraint System (Motorized Seat Belts)

PURPOSE
The motorized seat belt restrains the driver and front seat passenger in the vehicle through the use of an automatic shoulder belt.

OPERATION
After entering the vehicle, closing the door and turning the ignition switch to its ON position, a motor will cause the shoulder belt to slide along a drive belt track, starting at the front body A-pillar and ending at the center B-pillar. The shoulder belt will automatically adjust itself and will lock tight only on extremely hard braking or impacts of 5 mph or more. When the ignition is in any position and the door is opened or ajar, the shoulder belt will move forward to the A-pillar.

If the shoulder belt should stall before it reaches the B-pillar, the indicator lamp will begin to flash after nine seconds and will continue flashing until the shoulder belt is in its locked position.
