Oil Pressure Warning Lamp/Indicator: Testing and Inspection
1. Turn ignition switch to the RUN position, but do not start engine. Indicator should come ON.2. If indicator does not come ON, remove wire from switch terminal and connect to ground. Then proceed as follows:
a. If indicator comes ON, oil pressure switch is inoperative, or not properly grounded.
b. If indicator does not come ON, bulb is burned out or there is open in system wiring.
3. If indicator stays ON with engine running and good pressure, disconnect oil pressure switch lead wire, then proceed as follows:
a. If indicator goes out, replace oil pressure switch.
b. If indicator does not go out, check for short in circuit from oil pressure switch to bulb.
