Radiator Cooling Fan Motor: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.2. Disconnect electrical connector at fan motor, then disconnect wire loom from clip on shroud (push down on two lock fingers, then pull connector from motor end).
3. Remove two nuts retaining fan motor and shroud assembly, then lift from vehicle.
4. Remove retaining clip from motor shaft and remove fan. A metal burr may be present on motor shaft after retaining clip has been removed. If necessary, remove burr to facilitate in fan removal.
5. Remove three screws, then withdraw fan motor from shroud.
6. Reverse procedure to install, noting following:
a. Torque motor to shroud attaching nuts and washers to 44-66 in lb.
b. Torque fan, motor, and shroud assembly to radiator retaining nut to 35-41 in lb.
c. Torque fan, motor, and shroud assembly to radiator retaining screw to 31-41 in lb.
