KL17 - Check Continuity of SIL Circuit

- Key "OFF".

- Shift Indicator Light (SIL) bulb removed.

- Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Inspect for damaged or pushed out pins, corrosion, loose wires, etc. Service as necessary.

- Install breakout box, leave PCM disconnected.

- Measure resistance between test pin 53 at the breakout box and SIL circuit contact at the SIL bulb socket.

- Is resistance less than 5.0 ohms?

Yes -- Replace PCM. Remove breakout box. Reconnect SIL bulb. Verify SIL operation.

No -- Service open circuit. Remove breakout box. Reconnect all components. Verify SIL operation.
