Component Tests and General Diagnostics

1. Turn ignition switch to RUN or ACC position.
2. Connect a 73 ohm resistor between gauge lead and ground. Centerline of pointer should fall within band around "C" mark.
3. Connect a 10 ohm resistor between gauge lead and ground. Centerline of pointer should fall within band around "H" mark.
4. If gauge tests within calibration, verify engine ground, then replace sender.
5. If gauge is out of calibration, proceed as follows:
a. Inspect body wiring harness and connectors for opens, shorts or added resistance.
b. Inspect cluster and engine ground circuitry.
c. Inspect instrument cluster flex circuit for cracks or tears.
d. Ensure gauge terminal clips are tight and providing continuity between gauge terminals and flex circuit.
e. Replace gauge.
