D: VAPS Module Harness Check
VAPS Module Harness CheckD1 VAPS Harness And Connectors Ground Check
- Turn ignition switch to OFF.
- Disconnect VAPS connector from power steering variable assist control and bracket.
- Connect positive lead of DVOM to Circuit 57 and negative lead to ground.
- Measure resistance.
Note: All fuel filler doors and hood must be closed for proper resistance readings.
Is resistance greater than 15 Ohms?
Yes
SERVICE harness.
Go to A1. A1- A3
No
Go to D2.
D2 VAPS Harness And Connectors Voltage Check
- Disconnect VAPS connector from power steering variable assist control and bracket.
Voltage Chart:
- Connect DVOM as shown.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN.
- Measure voltage at each circuit, (Circuit 57 to ground).
Are voltage readings near given values?
Yes
Go to D3.
No
SERVICE harness.
REPEAT D2.
D3 VAPS Harness And Connectors Resistance Check
- Turn ignition switch to OFF.
- Measure resistance between Circuit 57 (ground) and all other indicated circuits.
- Connect DVOM as shown.
- Measure resistance of each circuit, by moving positive lead.
Is resistance at given value?

D4 VAPS HARNESS AND CONNECTORS CIRCUIT CHECK
- Turn ignition switch to OFF.
- Fuel filler doors and hood must be closed for proper readings.
- Disconnect VAPS harness connector from power steering variable assist control and bracket.
- Connect DVOM as shown.
- Measure resistance between Circuit 606 of VAPS harness connector and Circuit 606 of data link connector.
Typical resistance is 2.0 Ohms or less.
- Measure voltage between Circuit 606 of VAPS harness connector and Circuit 606 of data link connector.
Typical voltage is less than 0.1 volt.
- Move leads to Circuit 200.
- Measure resistance between Circuit 200 of VAPS harness connector and Circuit 200 of data link connector.
Typical resistance is 2.0 Ohms or less.
- Measure voltage between Circuit 200 of VAPS harness connector and Circuit 200 of data link connector.
Typical voltage is less than 0.1 volt.
Are resistance and voltage near given values?
Yes
Go to A2. A1- A3
No

Go to A2.
