Throttle Cable/Linkage: Adjustments
FREE PLAY1. Adjust idle to specification.
2. Measure free play at the accelerator pedal.
3. Free play should be 1-3mm (0.040-0.120 inch). If necessary, loosen locknut and adjust at cable housing brace.
4. Tighten locknut after proper free play is achieved.
DEFLECTION
1. Measure throttle cable deflection at deflection checking point midway between cable bracket and throttle cam. The deflection should be 1-3mm (0.040-0.120 inch).
2. If necessary. loosen locknut on cable bracket and adjust throttle cable deflection until it is within specification.
3. After proper deflection is achieved, tighten locknuts.
WIDE OPEN THROTTLE POSITION
1. Adjust throttle cable free play and deflection.
2. Press accelerator pedal all the way to the floor.
3. Make sure throttle plate in throttle body is in wide open position.
4. If necessary, loosen locknut and adjust at the pedal stop on pedal bracket.
5. Tighten locknut after adjustment is completed.
