DISASSEMBLENOTE: This procedure has been revised by a Technical Service Bulletin. The line pressure blow-off valve and spring feature have been eliminated. The pump body castings will continue to have the bore where the line pressure blow-off valve, spring, and clip were contained. Oil pump bodies with this valve and spring may have a hole drilled through to release fluid. Removal of these components will cause extensive transaxle internal leakage.
1. Remove two Torx bolts attaching separator plate to oil pump housing.
Oil Pump Body Check Balls And Relief Valve:
2. Remove check balls.
3. Remove six oil pump cover to pump housing attaching bolts, then the cover.
4. Remove pump bore spring by prying spring out of housing.
CAUTION: Use caution when removing spring. Also, place a piece of cardboard or suitable material under prying tool to prevent damage to the housing gasket surface.
5. Remove outside vane support retaining pin, then the metal 0-ring retainer and 0-ring from outer vane support. Discard 0-ring.
6. Remove and discard side seal.
7. Remove side seal support, then the top vane positioning ring and outer vane support.
8. Remove seven vanes from rotor, then the inner vane support.
9. Remove bottom vane positioning ring.
10. Remove solenoids, Electronic Pressure Control (EPC) bolt, one bolt lock-up, then depress tab and twist off shift solenoids.
11. From rotor side of pump, using suitable press and socket, press out bearing and seal assembly.
ASSEMBLE
NOTE: The only serviceable parts in the oil pump are the seals. If any other parts of the oil pump are damaged or worn, then entire pump assembly should be replaced.
1. From rotor side of pump, using suitable press and socket, install bearing and seal assembly.
2. Install solenoids, EPC bolt, one bolt lock-up, then install shift solenoids.
3. Install bottom vane positioning ring.
4. Install inner vane support with small inside diameter counterbore facing up.
5. Install seven vanes in inner vane support with shiny portion of vane blade facing toward outer vane support.
6. Install outer vane support, then the top vane positioning ring.
7. Install new side seal support, then the new side seal.
8. Install outer vane support retaining ring.
9. Install bore spring between case and tab on outer vane support.
10. Install new 0-ring in groove in outer vane support, then the metal 0-ring retainer.
11. Install oil pump cover on oil pump housing, then the oil pump cover attaching bolts. Tighten bolts.
12. Install check balls and relief valve, as shown in the Oil Pump Body Check Balls image.
13. Position separator plate on oil pump housing using a new gasket.
Oil Pump Body Separator Plate Installation:
14. Install Separator Plate Guide Pins tool Nos. T86P-70100-A and T86P-70100-B or equivalents as shown in the Oil Pump Body Separator Plate Installation image.
15. Install two Torx bolts and tighten, then remove guide pins.
