Air Bag Deactivation/Reactivation Procedures




DEACTIVATION PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect positive battery cable.
3. Wait one minute. This is the time required for back-up power supply in air bag diagnostic monitor to deplete its stored energy.
4. Remove four nut and washer assemblies retaining driver side air bag module to steering wheel.
5. Disconnect driver air bag connector. Remove driver side air bag module from vehicle.

WARNING: PLACE AIR BAG MODULE ON BENCH WITH TRIM COVER FACING UP.










6. Attach Rotunda Air Bag Simulator 105-00010 or equivalent to air bag sliding contact connector at top of steering column.
7. Remove the passenger side air bag module. After disconnecting the air bag connector, connect Rotunda Air Bag Simulator 105-00010 to the wiring harness in place of passenger side air bag module.
8. Reconnect positive battery cable.
9. Reconnect negative battery cable.

REACTIVATION PROCEDURE

WARNING: THE AIR BAG SIMULATOR(S) MUST BE REMOVED AND THE AIR BAG(S) RECONNECTED WHEN THE SYSTEM IS REACTIVATED.

1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect positive battery cable.
3. Wait one minute for back-up power supply in air bag diagnostic monitor to deplete its stored energy.
4. Remove Rotunda Air Bag Simulator 105-00010 or equivalent from air bag sliding contact connector if connected.
5. Position driver side air bag module on steering wheel and secure with four nut and washer assemblies (10mm). Tighten nut and washer assemblies to 4-5.6 N-m (35-50 lb-in).
6. Remove Rotunda Air Bag Simulator 105-00010 from the wiring harness, reconnect passenger side air bag module and install.
7. Reconnect positive battery cable.
8. Reconnect negative battery cable.
9. Prove out system.
