Air Bag Control Module: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

WARNING: THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT NECESSARY FOR SYSTEM DEPLOYMENT IS POWERED DIRECTLY FROM THE BATTERY. TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY, THE BATTERY POSITIVE CABLE MUST BE DISCONNECTED PRIOR TO SERVICING OR REPLACING ANY SYSTEM COMPONENTS.

1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect battery positive cable and wait one minute for back-up power supply energy to be depleted.
3. Rotate glove compartment past its stops.
4. Depress two air bag diagnostic monitor retaining tabs and slide air bag diagnostic monitor off its bracket.
5. Disconnect two air bag diagnostic monitor connectors. Remove air bag diagnostic monitor.

INSTALLATION
1. Connect air bag diagnostic monitor connectors.
2. Position air bag diagnostic monitor to bracket and slide into place. Ensure retaining tabs are secure.
3. Reconnect positive battery cable.
4. Reconnect negative battery cable.
5. Return glove compartment to its original position.
6. Prove out air bag system.
