Rear Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair
A one-piece crankshaft rear oil seal (6701) is used.
SPECIAL SERVICE TOOL(S) REQUIRED:
Removal
1. Remove transaxle. [1][2]Assembly
2. CAUTION: Use care to avoid scratching or damaging the oil seal surface or leakage may occur.
Using sharp awl, punch one hole into crankshaft rear oil seal metal surface between the seal lip and the cylinder block (6010).
3. Screw in the threaded end of Jet Plug Remover T77L-9533-B. Use the Jet Plug Remover to remove the crankshaft rear oil seal.
Installation
1. Lubricate crankshaft rear oil seal with clean engine oil meeting Ford specification ESE-M2C153-E.
Rear Crankshaft Oil Seal Installer:
2. Position crankshaft rear oil seal on Crankshaft Rear Seal Replacer T88L-6701-A. Position tool and crankshaft rear oil seal on rear of engine. Alternate bolt tightening to properly seat crankshaft rear oil seal.
3. Install transaxle. [1][2]Assembly
