Front Crankshaft Seal: Service and Repair

1. Loosen accessory drive belts, then remove righthand front wheel.
2. Remove four crankshaft pulley to damper attaching bolts, then remove accessory drive belt and pulley.
3. Remove vibration damper attaching bolt, then using suitable puller, remove vibration damper.
4. Using flat bladed screwdriver or other suitable tool, pry seal from front timing cover.

CAUTION: Do not damage front cover or crankshaft.

5. Lubricate replacement seal lip with clean engine oil, then install seal with suitable seal installer.
6. Lubricate inner hub surface of vibration damper with clean engine oil, then apply RTV sealant to keyway of inner hub surface of vibration damper.
7. Install vibration damper and tighten attaching bolt to 93-121 ft lb.
8. Install crankshaft pulley, then tighten bolts to 30-44 ft lb.
9. Install accessory drive belts, then the righthand front wheel.
10. Start engine and inspect for oil leaks.
