Installation

1. Apply a light coating of caliper slide grease at points where brake shoes contact backing plate.
2. Apply a thin uniform coat of long-life lubricant to adjuster screw threads and socket end of the adjusting screw. Install stainless steel washer over socket end of adjusting screw and install socket. Turn adjusting screw into adjusting pivot nut to the limit of threads and then back off one-half turn.
3. Install parking brake lever to trailing shoe with spring washer and new retaining clip. Crimp clip to securely retain lever.
4. Position trailing shoe or backing plate and attach parking brake cable.
Installing Retracting Spring And Shoe Assembly:
5. Position leading shoe on backing plate and attach lower retracting spring to brake shoes.

Adjusting Lever Installation:
6. Install adjuster assembly to slots in brake shoes. Socket end must fit into slot in leading shoe (wider slot). Slot in adjuster nut must fit into slots in trailing shoe and parking brake lever.
7. Install adjuster lever on pin on leading shoe and to slot in adjuster socket.
Upper Retracting Spring:
8. Install upper retracting spring in slot on trailing shoe and slot in adjuster lever. Adjuster lever should contact star and adjuster assembly.
9. Install brake shoe hold down pins, springs and retainers. Install parking brake rear cable and conduit into parking brake lever.
10. Position rear hub assembly on rear wheel spindle.
11. Install rear axle wheel hub retainer and tighten to 255-345 Nm (188-254 ft lb).
12. Install new rear hub cap grease seal using a 1-7/8 inch x 3/4 inch drive socket.
13. Adjust brake shoes/linings.
