Vent Solenoid (Level Control)
The vent solenoid valve allows air to escape the system during venting corrections. The valve is located in the air compressor head and shares an electrical connector with the motor. The valve is enclosed in the cylinder head casting which forms an integral valve housing which allows the valve tip to enter the pressurized side of the system. Leakage is prevented by an O-ring seal. The vent valve solenoid opens when, the rear of the vehicle is high and the control module determines lowering is necessary. When the vent solenoid valve is open pressurized air is allowed to escape. However, the vehicle will not lower unless the air spring solenoid valves are also opened to allow air to leave the springs.
The vent solenoid valve has an internal diode for electrical noise suppression and is polarity sensitive. Do not switch battery feed and ground circuits or component damage may result.
