Impact Sensor: Service and Repair
RemovalWARNING: THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT NECESSARY FOR SYSTEM DEPLOYMENT IS POWERED DIRECTLY FROM THE BATTERY. TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY, THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE MUST BE DISCONNECTED PRIOR TO SERVICING OR REPLACING ANY SYSTEM COMPONENTS.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect positive battery cable and wait one minute for back-up power supply energy to be depleted.
3. Disconnect RH or LH primary crash sensor electrical connector.
4. Remove three screws retaining RH primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket or LH primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket at front of radiator support and remove sensor.
Installation
1. Position RH primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket or LH primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket in vehicle and secure RH primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket or LH primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket to RH or LH side of radiator support with retaining screws. Tighten screws to 9-13 Nm (7-10 lb-ft).
2. Connect RH or LH primary crash sensor wire lead connector to wiring assembly connector and secure wiring retainer.
3. Reconnect battery positive cable.
4. Reconnect battery ground cable.
5. Prove out air bag system.
