Child Seat Tether Attachment: Description and Operation

If child safety belt anchor tether hardware is required for the child safety seat, child safety belt anchor tether hardware can be obtained at no charge from any Ford or Lincoln/Mercury dealer. Attachment holes at each rear seating position have been provided in all vehicles.

Canadian Vehicles Only
All vehicles built for sale in Canada include a child safety belt anchor tether hardware kit for use with Canadian Child Safety Seats.

- Some child safety seats provide a tether strap which goes over the back of the vehicle seat and attaches to an anchorage in the floor or panel behind the rear seat.

- If a tethered child safety seat is installed in the front seat, it should be installed in the front center seating position.

- The tether strap must be hooked to the webbing of the buckled rear center lap safety belt behind the child safety seat.

- Attachment holes (at each rear seating position) have been provided to attach the child safety belt anchor tether hardware kit.
