Evaporator Core: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain cooling system.
2. Disconnect and cap suction hose from accumulator drier.
3. Disconnect liquid line from evaporator inlet tube. Position liquid line away from evaporator assembly.
4. Disconnect 2 electrical connectors from de-ice switch in accumulator drier.
5. Disconnect heater hoses from heater core tubes.
6. Remove six right hand hood seal bracket assembly attaching screws, then remove ground strap and fold hood seal toward left hand side.
7. Disconnect and position aside all wiring and vacuum hoses attached to evaporator case.
8. Disconnect blower motor wiring.
9. From passenger side of dash panel, fold carpeting back on right hand side of floor, remove bottom left hand screw that supports inlet recirculation air duct.
10. From engine side of dash panel, one upper and two lower nuts from evaporator case mounting studs. Also remove two screws from blower motor portion of case.
11. Pull bottom of evaporator case assembly away from dash to disengage mounting studs, then pull top of case outward to disengage upper stud.
12. Remove evaporator case from vehicle.
13. Separate evaporator case halves and remove evaporator core.
14. Reverse procedure to install.
