Air Door: Service and Repair


Doors


A/C Air Temperature Control


Removal

1. Remove the heater air plenum chamber from the vehicle as outlined.

2. Remove blend door actuator crank arm.

3. Move the A/C air temperature control door to the full heat position. Remove one screw retaining the A/C air temperature control door to the crank arm.

4. Remove the A/C air temperature control door from the crank arm and remove the door from the dash panel inlet opening of the heater air plenum chamber.


Installation

1. Position the A/C air temperature control door through the dash panel inlet opening of the heater air plenum chamber and to the door crank arm.

2. Install one screw to attach the A/C air temperature control door to the crank arm.

3. Check the A/C air temperature control door for freedom of movement. Correct any existing sticking, binding or grabbing condition.

4. Install A/C electronic door actuator motor if removed.

5. Install the heater air plenum chamber in the vehicle as outlined.

6. Check the system for proper operation.


Windshield Defroster

Removal

1. Remove the heater air plenum chamber from vehicle.

2. Through the floor air distribution opening, remove one screw retaining the windshield defroster door to the door crank arm.

3. Pull the windshield defroster door from the crank arm and remove the windshield defroster door from the heater air plenum chamber.


Installation

1. Position the windshield defroster door in the heater air plenum chamber and position the windshield defroster door to the crank arm.

2. Through the floor air distribution opening, install one screw to attach the windshield defroster door to the crank arm.

3. Check the windshield defroster door for freedom of movement. Correct any existing sticking, binding or grabbing condition.

4. Install the heater air plenum chamber in the vehicle as outlined.

5. Check the system for proper operation.





Heater Air Damper


Removal

1. Remove the heater air plenum chamber from the vehicle as outlined.

2. Remove the sleeve nut attaching the vacuum motor arm to the heater air damper door.

3. Remove two screws attaching door hinge to heater air plenum chamber upper half.

4. Drill and remove two rivets retaining the heater air damper door hinge to the heater air plenum chamber lower half.

5. Remove the heater air damper door from the heater air plenum chamber through the dash panel inlet opening.


Installation

1. Position the heater air damper door into the heater air plenum chamber through the dash panel inlet openings.

2. Install two screws to attach heater air damper door hinge to heater air plenum chamber upper half.

3. Either pop-rivet or install two screws and nuts to attach the panel door hinge to the heater air plenum chamber lower half.

4. Check the door for alignment and freedom of movement. Correct any existing sticking, binding or grabbing condition.

5. Connect the vacuum motor arm to the heater air damper door with a new sleeve nut.

6. Install the heater air plenum chamber in the vehicle.

7. Check the system for proper operation.
