Important Parts Ordering Message
Parts for 1994 models affected by this program are currently available and MUST be ordered by calling toll-free 1-800-325-5621.
Owners of 1994 models are being notified now. Currently, you can order only the 1994 model parts required for vehicles returned to your dealership for service. Refer to the parts ordering instructions in the dealer bulletin. Be prepared to provide the VIN of the vehicle as well as your dealership P & A and your name and phone number.
Owners of affected 1995 models will be notified in the very near future. You will be advised prior to this mailing. When 1995 model owners respond with their vehicles you must also order parts by calling the toll-free number.
Affected Vehicles
1994 and 1995 Crown Victoria Police interceptors and 1995 Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Cars equipped with trailer tow, limousine, GCC (Gulf Cooperative Council) and Mexico option packages.
Reason For This Program
Internal sealing rings in the engine oil cooler assembly may swell causing leakage of engine oil or coolant in the cooler assembly. The mixing of engine oil or coolant in the cooler assembly could result in customer complaints of engine overheating, noise and, in some cases, engine damage or failure.
Service Action
Owners will be notified and asked to return their cars for inspection and, if necessary, replacement of oil coolers or oil hose assemblies. During the service visit dealers will be required to evaluate the engine and, if necessary, call a toll-free number for engine service authorization.
Special Dealer Parts Ordering And Mailing Information
Because of the limited availability of oil cooler assemblies, you must order parts by calling a toll-free number. The owners of 1994 models will be notified in the first phase of owner letters while owners of 1995 models will be notified as soon as sufficient parts are available. (Dealers will be advised of this prior to the mailing.)
Refunds
Only for owner-paid repairs made before the date of the Owner Letter (or after the date of the Owner Letter if an emergency repair was made away from the servicing dealer).
