Transmission Speed Sensor: Description and Operation

Output Shaft Speed (OSS) Sensor:

The Output Shaft Speed (OSS) sensor provides the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with transmission output shaft rpm information. The OSS signal is also used for shift schedules, modulated converter clutch control and determining EPC pressure. The OSS sensor is a magnetic pick-up located on the rear of the transmission case.
