- Continue to monitor the PIDs listed in Z40.

- Instrument the vehicle as in the previous steps.

- Select a person to assist in performing the 30 mph road test.

- Make sure engine is at operating temperature before comparing or recording diagnostic values.

- Drive the vehicle in a steady 30 mph range with accessories off.

- Access the PIDs based on the information from the pinpoint test or from the Intermittent Symptom Charts. Intermittent Symptom Charts

- Compare the actual values from the vehicle to the 30 mph values in the Diagnostic Reference Value Chart. Normal Scan Data Values - Includes Pids

- Are any PID values out of range or drop out and back into the range?

Yes -- Fault identified. For input fault: GO to Z10. Z10

For output fault: GO to Z20. Z20

No -- Unable to verify fault. GO to Z43. Z43
