X50 - DTC 1481: Check If High Speed Fan Operates
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 1481 indicates that when the High Speed Fan was commanded on, the Fan Monitor (FANM) circuit did not go high. This could be due to an intermittent or hard fault concern.
NOTE: For one speed fan applications, disregard DTC 1481.
Possible Causes:
- B(+) circuit open to CCRM (HFC relay).
- Power-to-High Speed Fan circuit open.
- Faulty cooling fan.
- Faulty CCRM.
- Scan Tool connected.
- Key On, Engine Off.
- Access Output Test Mode on Scan Tool.
- Command high speed fan On.
- Does the high speed fan operate?
YES -- An intermittent fault may exist. GO to X80. X80 - DTC 1481: Check Power-to-High Fan and B(+) to HFC Relay
NO -- A hard fault is present. GO to X51. X51 - Check For B(+) to CCRM
