NA3 - Check For IDM at ICM - KOER
WARNING: NEVER CONNECT THE PCM TO EEC BREAKOUT BOX WHEN PERFORMING EI DIAGNOSTICS.
- Key Off.
- Install EI diagnostic harness to breakout box. and to both the ICM and vehicle harness. Do not connect CKP sensor tee or coil tees.
- Connect EI diagnostic harness negative and positive leads to battery.
- Use EI 8 overlay.
- Set EI diagnostic harness type switch to "8" position.
- DVOM on 40 volt AC scale.
- Do not use an incandescent test lamp to check IDM. The lamp will prevent the circuit from operating.
- Start engine and measure voltage between (+)J30 (EI diagnostic harness IDM detector) and (-)J7 (B-) at breakout box.
NOTE: If pulses are present, the IDM detector output will be between 5.0 and 7.0 volts AC.
- Is AC voltage between 5.0 and 7.0 volts?
