MC2 - Check Base Timing - KOER



WARNING: NEVER CONNECT PCM TO EEC BREAKOUT BOX WHEN PERFORMING EI DIAGNOSTICS.

- Key Off.

- Install EI diagnostic harness to breakout box and to both the ICM and vehicle harness. Do not connect the CKP sensor tee or coil tees.

- Connect EI diagnostic harness negative and positive leads to battery.

- Use EI 8 overlay.

- Set EI diagnostic harness type switch to "8" position.

- Connect timing light (must be EI compatible).

- Do not use an incandescent test lamp to check SPOUT. The lamp will prevent the circuit from operating.

- Start engine and allow it to warm up.

- Is timing 10 ±2degrees BTDC when the diagnostic harness SPOUT button is pushed?

YES -- GO to MC3. MC3 - Check For Spark Angle Advance - KOER

NO -- Base timing fault. GO to MC9. MC9 - Inspect CKP Sensor and Trigger Wheel - Timing Fault
