JC33 - Check For Coil PWR to Left Coil
WARNING: NEVER CONNECT PCM TO THE EEC BREAKOUT BOX WHEN PERFORMING EI DIAGNOSTICS.
- Key Off.
- Install EI (High Data Rate) diagnostic harness to breakout box.
- Install the left coil tee. The tee is yellow (left coil).
- Connect EI diagnostic harness negative lead to battery.
- Use 4.6L EI (High Data Rate) 8 overlay.
- Set EI harness type switch to "8 cylinder" position.
- DVOM on 40 volt DC scale.
- Key On, Engine Off.
- When making voltage checks, a ground reading means any value within a range of zero to 1 volt. Also VPWR or COIL PWR readings mean any value that falls within a range of B+ to 2 volts less than B+.
- Measure voltage between (+)J11 (COIL PWR L) and (-)J7 (B-) at breakout box.
- Is DC voltage greater than 10.0 volts?
YES -- GO to JC34. JC34 - Check For C3 High at Coil Pack - KOEO
NO -- CHECK connectors, SERVICE or REPLACE harness. COIL PWR is open to left coil. REMOVE all test equipment. RECONNECT all components. Clear continuous memory. Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
